Spain, a country historically linked to animals, is currently one of the leading European territories in their abandonment and overexploitation, presenting troubling challenges for those looking after their well-being.
Millions of animals are slaughtered annually for human benefit, many of them consequently suffering from diseases, injuries and stress due to their breeding in unsuitable environments.
However, there are groups dedicated to eradicating this exploitation. Foundations and sanctuaries rescue animals that are victims of abuse and create shelters and recovery centers. This effort, driven by volunteers, goes beyond simple rehabilitation, including the defense of their rights and the fight against speciesism.
The prevention of this exploitation is not the only objective. Recognizing the emotional ties between humans and animals, it seeks to raise awareness of responsible ownership and reduce overproduction to improve their quality of life
